Appraisals

Our appraisals are written for Insurance Replacement purposes, and are done by a graduate gemologist who has degree from The Gemological Institute of America. A well done appraisal provides a good description of an article of jewelry including style, weight, quality and measurements especially concerning the diamonds and gemstones, and will include a photograph.

For larger diamonds many people chose to have the appraiser do a plotting diagram which is a map of the diamonds unique internal characteristics.

The paperwork will include an Explanation of Terms page defining the purpose of the appraisal and further qualifications of the appraiser.

Typically each piece takes about 15-20 minutes to make notes and take written measurements. Research and document preparation will take additional time and can be done later, with the report being mailed when completed.

It is recommended that appointments be made to avoid unnecessary waiting. Jewelry can be left, of course, and will be locked in our safe and protected by our insurance while in our possession.
